I have a free AVG on my PC that's always been updated. I had to reinstall Vista from same CD as upgrade. When I first started experiencing this a few weeks ago, I suspected registry problems and adware/spyware problems...even though I had either Norton Security or ZoneAlarm Security Suite. After installing this 64 bit OS update "windows update" ran successfully for the first time in over a week. After the update was complete it was 'screaming' out for a reboot, as I was on my desktop at the time I thought I'd let it reboot.Went through the usual tasks, Spent about 15 hours on the phone with MicroSoft who screwed my system up so badly with their tweaks and changes that I ended up having to do a complete re-install.

well good luck to all! See if that works. It has 3 years warranty and I'm still giving it another day I'm draining all the battery plus the CMOS battery to reset it. After applying this patch, check the updates manually.

I spend a thousand dollars on a new computer on the assumption that in the 8 years since I bought my last one, the state of the art has improved. After updating to SP1 computer rebooted, but while booting up it got blue screen of death. I have recently purchased ROXIO creator video processing software which should work with Vista, but when trying to install I get the failure message "Setup has determined that your configuration does I heard something about a DX upgrade?
