The recovery partition containing Vista is now worthless. I am confident that on reinstallation of the xp pro I only deleted the C partition…and then created a new one. Using f10 will bring me to the recovery screen as well, but it says something that the "recovery is still incomplete." and it will go through that and ask for the Dave Boot to safe mode with networking by tapping the F8 key when booting.
